My friend, the amazing Stephanie Dethlefs and I talked about the novel Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman. I urge you to go to Stephanie’s substack and read her overview of the book before listening to our conversation.
My take - as you’ll hear in the recording - is that this was a book that sucked me in, so much so that whenever I was bumped I didn’t let that deter me from turning the page. After finishing the last page I was initially blown away, but the more I thought about the novel and the narrator, I started to remember all the bumps, inconsistencies, and implausibilities I encountered along the way. So I was very happy to have this conversation with Stephanie to talk this all out.
Enjoy!
